Obviously DllMain is defined twice in MFC and VC Runtime but that is all the information we can extract from here, so I did some further experimentations and finally removed couple files containing AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState()) from the project, and it solved the problem. Looks like this AFX_MANAGE_STATE affects something that DllMain is the name the runtime library (ATL, MFC) implementation expects you to supply. It's a name the linker will see referenced from the default implementation of DllEntryPoint which is named _DllMainCRTStartup in the runtime implementations. See the CRT source files crtdll.c and dllcrt0.c if you have Visual Studio. To do that, open your Visual Studio window.
